Leaving your roof to leak because “it isn’t that bad”
Even the smallest of leaks can cause major problems in the long run. Just because you can only see a small damp patch on you ceiling or wall, doesn’t mean the leak isn’t causing problems behind the areas you can see. Rain water travels, if you ignore a roof leak then the rain water can build up and will attach itself to whatever it can, this may be structural timbers i.e. roof rafters or ceiling joists. Not only will you then only have a roof leak, but there will be a possibility of the structural timbers gaining wet rot and possibly dry rot, this is not what you want. This is just an example of what can happen if roof leaks are ignored and potential roof leaks are pushed to one side, rain water has a mind of its own and can travel wherever the property allows it too, often following the lines of electrics and dripping through ceiling lights.
